Jammu: Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh has said that people in Jammu and Kashmir are peace loving.
“We are peace loving people and anyone who attempts to disturb peace here would be dealt with firmly,” Singh said.
The DGP who is on visit to Jammu Division visited Kathua on Thursday where he chaired a crime review meeting at DPL Kathua and attended progrmmes in connection with Azadi Ka Amrit Maha Utsav organized by IRP 19th BN.
The crime meeting was attended by SSP Kathua, Ramesh Chander Kotwal, Principal PTS Kathua, Roop Raj,all SDPOs, SHOs and other officers.
While addressing the crime meeting at DPO Kathua, the DGP said that the jurisdictional officers must take all the measures to improve investigation and disposal of cases. He stressed upon the officers to speed up the disposal of all pending cases and directed that quality of investigation and disposal of these cases has to be improved for increasing the conviction rate.
The DGP stressed for strict monitoring of suspected activities/persons in border areas and preparing the list of suspected elements. The DGP directed for efficient investigation of cases related to crime against women. The DGP directed for conducting Police-public meetings at far-flung areas saying that it will contribute in achieving desired results.
During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held on general crime work and terrorism cases, backlog cases and their disposal, conviction of all crime cases including cases related to terrorism and narcotics. Besides, the overall security scenario of the District was also discussed.
SSP Kathua briefed the DGP about the Crime control measures and other allied Policing activities. He apprised the DGP about the measures taken to control different smuggling activities in border areas as also in hinter land of his district.
Later on the DGP attended a programme organized by IRP 19th Bn under in connection with Azadi Ka Amrit Maha Utsav. Students of Government Higher secondary Schools, Sumwan, Jakhbar, Government High School Changaran, Government Girls Middle School, Jakhbar, Government Middle Schools Gadadhar, Badala, Checkdewan, and Government Primary School Sherpur participated in the programme. Besides, Dogrilambi cultural team, Gojri Cultural Team, Romalu Ram Ji’s Cultural team attended the function and performed on the occasion.
On the conclusion of the programme, the DGP addressed the participants. He complimented the participants for their splendid performances despite disturbing weather conditions. Referring to the performances of the participants, the DGP said that the programme reflects the culture diversity of our country. He also appreciated the Commandant IR 19 Bn and his team for organizing such an enthralling programme.
The DGP said that “we are peace loving people and anybody who attempts to disturb the peace here would be dealt with firmly. He said some elements with the evil and motivated interests are always attempting to create disturbance and added that like the past their every anti peace attempt is bound to fail.
He said the Pakistan and its agencies through drones are dropping weapons and drugs in our UT part to harm our younger generation and added that we all have to make collective efforts to foil their evil attempts. He advised the students to focus on their studies and nation building activities. Stay away from the drugs as it is more dangerous than terrorism, he advised.
The DGP J&K announced cash rewards ranging from Rs 5000 to Rs 12000 for the participating schools and Cultural troupes.
The DGP also launched a plantation drive by planting a Peepal sapling in the premises of the IRP 19th Bn Headquarters. NGO Sanjeevani Jan Kalyan team provided 100 saplings to the Police on the occasion.
In his welcome address, commandant IRP 19th Bn Benam Tosh briefed about the aim of organizing the programme.
Speaking to the media, the DGP said the JK Police and other sister agencies are working tirelessly for the peaceful Yatra and added that people across J&K are welcoming the pilgrims and facilitating them at every point.
“Amarnath yatra is going smoothly and hopefully will continue with the same manner, he added. He said that in every society there are bad elements and good elements, we have to stand for good people and work against the bad elements,” he added. He said that we have been fighting successfully the infiltrations, narco/weapon smuggling and other anti peace activities and would continue to do so with more strength.
