Notorious car lifter booked under PSA: Police

Budgam: Police on Monday said that they have booked a notorious and habitual car thief under Public Safety Act for his continuous involvement in vehicle theft cases.

The booked person is the kingpin of a vehicle-lifting gangs operating in various districts of J&K especially in Budgam, a police spokesman said.

“There was huge resentment among the public for his involvement in repeated criminal activities of car lifting/theft incidents as such there was every likelihood of turning of said issue of car lifting into law and order problems,” the spokesman added.

The said habitual thief who was booked under PSA has been identified as Riyaz Ahmed Rather @Riyaz Gani son of Abdul Gani Rather resident of Nasrullahpora Budgam, the spokesman added.
