Srinagar, Nov 30 : The Meteorological Department reported a significant 69% rainfall deficit across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh for the month of November.

News agency KINS reported that the Meteorological Centre Srinagar said that against a normal average of 35.3 mm, only 10.9 mm of rainfall was recorded in the region during this period.

Kathua district experienced the most severe shortfall, with a 100% departure from normal rainfall, registering 0.0 mm against an expected 28.0 mm. Poonch followed closely, with a 98% deficit.

In Budgam, rainfall stood at 14.9 mm, 90% below the normal 30.1 mm. Srinagar and Jammu districts also faced considerable deficits of 74% and 78%, respectively.

However, Samba district emerged as an exception, receiving 48% more rainfall than average, with 12.5 mm recorded against the normal 8.1 mm. Kupwara district also saw a near-normal pattern, recording only a 3% departure with 48.1 mm against the normal 49.8 mm.
