Srinagar: On receipt of input from JKP and other sources regarding the presence of a militant in general area Semathan, Bijbihara, a joint cordon and search operation was launched in the area by the Indian Army and JKP on 01 Nov 22 at about 11:25 AM.
Security Forces established a cordon around the suspected cluster of houses in the village whilst maintaining complete surprise. After confirming the presence of the terrorist hiding in one of the houses, the Security Forces evacuated civilians in the vicinity to a safe location and gave surrender call to the terrorist. During this time the hiding, terrorist opened fire, which was effectively retaliated. The terrorist was subsequently neutralised in the firefight. One pistol and other warlike stores have been recovered from the encounter site.
According to the JKP, the neutralised terrorist belonged to HM and has been identified as Shakir Ahmad Dar, a resident of Ludramar, Awantipura.
