Srinagar: Police on Friday arrested a drug peddler in Bandipora and recovered contraband substance from his possession, a police spokesman said.
He said that acting on specific information, a police party established a checkpoint at Kanbathi Kehnusa and intercepted a suspicious person. He has been identified as Wassem Raja Reshi son of Nazir Ahmad Reshi resident of Kehnusa Bandipora. On checking, officers were able to recover 1190 tablets and 56 Capsules of banned drug and 50 grams of charas from his possession. The accused has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Bandipora and further investigation has been taken up, the spokesman added.
