Sopore: Police in Sopore on Friday arrested two gamblers and seized stake money from their possession, a police spokesman said.
In a handout issued here, a police party of Police Station Dangiwacha raided the specific site and arrested two gamblers on the spot. The raid was held after the police got specific information about gambling activities in the orchards of village Batsuma.
The police identified the arrested persons as Irshad Ahmad Shah son of Muhammad Yousuf Shah and Javaid Ahmad Shah son of Abdul Razak Shah both the residents of Batsuma Rafiabad.
Officers have seized stake money of Rs 15,000, playing cards and a mobile phone from the gamblers.
“A case vide FIR No. 67/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Dangiwacha and investigation set into motion,” the police handout reads.
The police have said that the persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt with as per law.
“Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units,” the police in a handout said.
