POONCH, APRIL 04: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a meeting in the Conference Hall of the DC Office to review and finalize arrangements for the Baisakhi Festival.
Religious heads projected various issues and emphasized the need for proper arrangements to ensure the smooth celebration of the festival.
They appealed for uninterrupted supply of electricity and potable water, adequate sanitation measures, proper vehicle parking facilities, availability of ambulance services and other essential arrangements. Stress was laid on ensuring robust security arrangements for the Baisakhi Mela.
Responding to the demands, the Deputy Commissioner issued necessary directions to the concerned departments. The PDD and PHE departments were instructed to ensure uninterrupted power supply and adequate provision of safe drinking water. The Executive Officer of the Municipality was directed to maintain cleanliness in and around places of worship and congregation sites. Police authorities were asked to put in place foolproof security arrangements during the festivities.
Additionally, the meeting also discussed the arrangements for Nagar Kirtan on scheduled on April 12, which will commence from Gurudwara Baithak Mahant Mohar Singh and culminate at Dera Santpura Nangali Sahib. Directions were issued to ensure proper arrangements for security, uninterrupted water and electricity supply, ambulance services and sanitation during the event.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Tahir Mustafa Malik; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Muhammad Sayeed; Dysp Hqr. along with other concerned officers, executive engineers, religious heads and prominent citizens.
