REASI, DECEMBER 05: The District Programme Officer (DPO) Poshan Reasi Mohammad Anwar Banday on Thursday inaugurated a 6 day training program for Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) of Poshan Project Pouni under the “Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi” initiative here at DIET campus.

The training, which is part of the Poshan Project, will run from December 5 to December 11, 2024 in two separate batches (1st batch from 05.12.2024 to 07.12.2024 & 2nd batch from 09.12.2024 to 11.12.2024). The program is being implemented under the Saksham Anganwadi initiative and Mission Poshan 2.0, aimed at building the capacity of Anganwadi workers and strengthening the delivery of early childhood care and education (ECCE) services.

In his inaugural address, the District Programme Officer emphasized the significance of the training, which will empower Anganwadi Workers to provide high-quality, play-based ECCE services at the grassroots level. This initiative aims to equip AWWs with the necessary skills and knowledge to focus on the key developmental domains of young children, particularly in rural and remote areas.

He further elaborated on the core components of the ECCE curriculum, including Navchetna and Aadharshila, which are integral parts of the national frameworks for early childhood stimulation and Education. Navchetna focuses on early childhood stimulation for children aged 0-3 years, while Aadharshila targets the educational needs of children aged 3-6 years. These curricula are designed to provide a comprehensive and holistic approach to early childhood development, ensuring that every child receives the foundation they need to thrive.

Dr. Lekha Bhasin, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Pouni, extended warm welcome to the District Programme Officer and other participants and further outlined the objectives of PBPB Training programme.

The training will cover both theoretical and practical aspects of the Navchetna and Adharshila curricula, providing Anganwadi Workers with essential tools to create engaging and developmentally appropriate learning environments for children. The event saw active participation from Anganwadi Workers and officials of Poshan Project Pouni.
