Owais Gul
Srinagar: The people across Kashmir are set to witness additional power cuts in the next ten days as a transmission feeder line at Thanamandi developed technical snag on Friday.
Chief Engineer, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), Aijaz Ahmad Dar said that due to some technical issues at 400 KV Jalandhar-Srinagar transmission feeder line, there is a possibility of further curtailment in the Valley.
He added that the department will try to ensure adequate electricity, but the fact is that “we are short by 50-100 MW. We are trying to load lines to the full capacity.”
“We are trying to give optimum loading to the lines and have a minimum effect of this outage,” he said, adding that there is a possibility of additional power cuts by half an hour to one hour.
Chief Engineer informed that the possibility of additional power cuts would continue till next ten days as the issues at Thanamandi transmission feeder line will be resolved in the same period.
“Although it takes a long period to rectify the issues at transmission feeder lines, but the agency has agreed to complete the repair work in next days,” he said and appealed the people to cooperate with the department till the situation improves.
