SAMBA, JULY 18: In a major public outreach initiative, the District Administration Samba, in collaboration with Action India NGO organised a community programme at the border village of Jerda, Ramgarh, to address public grievances and promote youth engagement.

During the event, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma distributed books and sports kits among local children and youth, encouraging them to channelize their energy for achieving excellence in academics and sports. The outreach programme was held with the larger goal of instilling a sense of unity and motivating the youth to stay away from drugs.

The DC underlined the administration’s commitment to the welfare of Displaced Persons (DPs) of 1947, 1965, 1971 and urged eligible individuals to submit the requisite documents to claim ownership rights under the ongoing schemes.

Emphasising the need for collective community action against drug abuse, the DC appealed to citizens and youth to actively participate in making Samba a drug-free district.

Representatives from Action India NGO expressed gratitude to the district administration for their support and cooperation in conducting grassroots programmes across border areas.

The event witnessed the presence of SDM Vijaypur, Tehsildar Ramgarh, BDO, officers from various departments, Action India team and a large number of local residents.
