Chandigarh, Sep 9: Punjab has earned 13 percent more income from stamp fees and registration charges in the first five months of 2023-24, a minister said on Saturday.

Revenue Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa said here that providing transparent, hassle-free, and corruption-free services to the people of Punjab is the government’s primary goal.

Jimpa said between April and August, the state exchequer earned Rs 1811.14 crore for stamp fees and registration charges, which is 13 percent more than the income of Rs. 1605.49 crore in the corresponding period of 2022. He said the state’s income is continuously increasing.

The minister claimed since the present government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan, took office, many decisions have been taken which have brought positive changes in the state.

He said the revenue target of Rs 4700 crore from registries has been set during 2023-24 and significant efforts are being made to achieve it. New appointments are being made in the revenue department and educated young men and women are getting employment.

He appealed to the people to support the government to further bolster the state’s treasury and refrain from giving bribe to any officer or employee of the revenue department. If anyone asks for a bribe then it should be reported immediately. The minister iterated that corrupt officers and employees will not be spared.
