Rang-e-Chinar cultural extravaganza concludes at NIT Srinagar with enthusiastic student participation

Srinagar, 04 Nov: The two-day annual cultural extravaganza, Rang-e-Chinar, came to a close at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, with an impressive turnout of students and a wide array of captivating events.

The event was organized by the NIT Srinagar Students’ Gymkhana, the event celebrated the institute’s vibrant cultural spirit and brought together over 12,000 enthusiastic attendees.

The second day of the cultural festival featured an eclectic mix of activities that catered to various interests, including Solo Dance (Eastern), Trained Cuisine Workshop (Southern), Origami Workshop, Theatrics, Mimicry, Solo Dance (Western), Wall Painting, Live Photo and Reel Making, Game Zone, Duet Freestyle Dancing, Stand-up Comedy, Storytelling/Poetry, Pro Show, Choreo Night, Ladi Shah, Tattoo Making Workshop, Meme Making, Mr. & Ms. Finale, and more.

Students from various educational institutions and interests came together to participate in a wide range of cultural and artistic events, including music, dance, drama, and more.

Their enthusiasm was palpable, and they expressed their appreciation for the initiative that brought this lively spirit to the campus.

Tabish Gulzar, B-Tech 3rd Year at NIT Srinagar, participated in a wall painting competition, stated that it is wonderful to see our institute organizing these events.

“These events bring so much energy and positivity to our campus. Rang-e-Chinar has added a new dimension to our college experience. These festive events have the potential to bring about a positive and vibrant change on our campus,” she added.

Tabish said this cultural Extravaganza not only provided a platform for students to display their artistic and creative abilities but also fostered a strong sense of unity and celebration within the NIT Srinagar community.

Another student, Abrar Hussain from Amar Singh College said these two days were a whirlwind of talent and artistry. NIT Srinagar has outdone itself with this cultural extravaganza.

It is more than just an event; it is an experience that will stay with us, he said.

“As a dancer, I was thrilled to showcase my skills here. The positive energy and appreciation from the audience were incredible. Rang-e-Chinar has ignited a new passion in me,” Abrar said.

Zoya, a student of Womens College Srinagar said being a part of the drama competition was a surreal experience.

The audience’s response and the camaraderie among participants have been inspiring. I hope NIT Srinagar continues to host such events, she added.

Another student from ECE Department, Sanjay Kumar who participated in logo making competition at NIT Srinagar and appreciated the organizers for their efforts.

“They have created an engaging platform for us to showcase our creativity and talent. It was a great opportunity to not only test our design skills but also to be a part of the cultural event.

I want to express my gratitude to the organizers for their hard work and dedication in making this event a success,” he said.

Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Sudhakar Yedla, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the student organizers for their commendable job in organizing the event. Rang-e-Chinar was totally coordinated and organized by the students of NIT Srinagar, he said.

Prof. Yedla said the event was entirely driven by the students, and he expressed immense pride in their organizational abilities.

He highlighted the significance of such events, stating these events provide students with a platform to explore and showcase their talents and interests, he added.

Dean Students Welfare and Chairperson of Students’ Gymkhana, Prof. Dr. Abdul Liman, S.A. Shah, Vice-Chairperson of Students’ Gymkhana both expressed their gratitude to Director NIT Srinagar for providing support in organising such events on the campus.

Coordinator of the event, Dr. Dinesh Kumar Rajendran said over the past two days hundreds of students enthusiastically participated in dozens of events, showcasing their diverse skills and creativity.

This event saw students from various backgrounds and interests come together to display their artistic and creative abilities, he said.

Dr. Dinesh expressed his gratitude to the students, faculty, and well-wishers. These events are indeed vital. They provide a platform for students to express themselves, nurture their talents, and foster a sense of unity and celebration within our campus community, he added.

He also acknowledged the support of the Director of NIT Srinagar, emphasizing their backing as crucial to the event’s success. The diverse range of events, from music and dance to drama and exhibitions, highlighted the rich talents that the NIT Srinagar campus holds, he added.

Meanwhile, Dr. Dinesh Kumar Rajendran was the main coordinator of the event, while Dr. Janani L and Dr. Parameshwar were co-coordinators of the annual Rang-e-Chinar event.

Chairperson, Rang-e-Chinar Prabh Karan Singh Jolly said “Rang-e-Chinar served as an unparalleled celebration of the performing arts, where talent and creativity shine at the forefront, making it an event that is truly exceptional.

“The art exhibitions and installations on display revealed the depth of creativity within the student community.

The festival’s unique charm lies in its commitment to inclusivity, hosting engaging workshops, thought-provoking discussions, and even culinary experiences that mirror the vast diversity of our nation,” he added.

MD Saif, student coordinator for design, content and social media said that it is an immense honor to host such a mega cultural event on our campus.

“We are deeply thankful to our Director, Sir, whose vision and support have transformed our campus into a vibrant hub of creativity and cultural celebration,” he added.

The event concluded with a musical performance from the students that thrilled and engaged the audience. The melodious tunes and energetic performances left the crowd in high spirits, making it a memorable ending to a fantastic cultural event
