POONCH, OCTOBER 31: To mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), District Police Poonch in collaboration with District Administration Poonch organized a grand “Run for Unity” today, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from people across all walks of life.
The event was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Ashok Kumar Sharma along with Senior Superintendent of Police, Shafket Hussain. The run commenced from MHS DAV Public School Kanuyian. CRPF, Students from Government Degree College Poonch and various educational institutions took part in the run, which culminated at Sports Stadium Poonch, where an Ekta Diwas pledge-taking ceremony was held to reaffirm the spirit of national integration and unity.
An Ekta Tree Plantation drive and several other activities were also held to showcase contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to national unity.
Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Ashok Kumar Sharma also led the officers and staff of the District Administration Poonch in taking the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day) Pledge at the DC Office Complex, Poonch.
Prominent among those present were ADDC Poonch, Tahir Mustafa Malik; ASP, Mohan Lal; DYSP, Neeraj Sharma; PO ICDS, Khalid Hussain Wafa; DYSSO, Mohd Qasim, besides other officers from Police and District Administration and a large number of students and citizens.
