A ray of hope of having better relations with China, without hostilities has emerged with the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) handing over a 17-year-old boy named Miram Taron hailing from Arunachal Pradesh to the Indian Army. The move has not only been hailed from all the quarters but it has also been put forth the PLA responded positively on the return of the boy.
The handing over of the boy has greater importance with China being in the middle of it. We have often seen handing over of people who by mistake enter Pakistan side or the Indian side from both sides from time to time, but that has now turned out to be normal keeping in view the frequency of such events.
With China showing aggression from Ladakh and this humane gesture from Arunachal Pradesh—which China claims to be its territory—two different postures are being exercised from two different points. However, the one shown from the Arunachal side has melted hearts and also points towards a ray of hope.
While things have been quite serious and disastrous from the Ladakh side, there is a need for keeping up with the humane gestures like that of one shown by handing over the boy to India. Even as the role of the Indian Army is being appreciated, the PLA at the same deserves to be commended for responding positively from their side. Such incidents always bring along a ray of hope for things apparently falling in place concerning the relations with China that have not been witnessing any improvement post Galwan clashes in Ladakh where at least 40 Indian soldiers were killed.
Humanity has to be paramount to all interests. It is the connection of being human on both sides that can do wonders—something that needs to be protected, cherished always upheld.
