RAMBAN, JUNE 23: Red Ribbon Club Government Degree College (GDC) Ramban conducted a special awareness programme on NACO’S Breakfree platform under its IT-enabled virtual strategies for HIV/STI prevention, risk assessment, testing, counselling and treatment support for confidential and accessible services to youth.
The main objective of the programme is to encourage and galvanize the students for expanding awareness among the youth. The programme empowers the youth to get timely access to healthcare services in a confidential manner. It offers online risk assessment, virtual counseling and guidance for locating nearby testing and treatment centers and providing comprehensive information regarding HIV infection and sexually transmitted diseases.
Principal of the college Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri highlighted the importance of Breakfree HIV/SIT programme in creating awareness among the students. “Such initiative will help the youth break the myths and get proper guidance and counseling of this disease,” he informed.
Speaking on the occasion, the programme convener Dr. Sanjay Kumar (Convener Red Ribbon Club & HOD Urdu) emphasized the importance of the early diagnosis and timely treatment in preventing the deadly disease like HIV.
He added that such information shall be confidential and cost -free. The Break free platform also features reliable information regarding HIV and STI related concerns, he informed.
The RCC members comprising Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Mir; Dr. Ranjeet Singh Katoch, Prof. Neetu Sharma and Prof. Samir Ahmad played a significant role in disseminating the awareness among the students the programme is expected to strengthen the efforts towards the prevention of HIV infection and improve the quality of life.
