ANANTNAG, MARCH 07: A One-Day Refresher Training Programme under the Adolescence Education Programme (AEP) was successfully organized today by the Chief Education Office Anantnag at DIET Anantnag, in collaboration with the J&K Board of School Education and J&K AIDS Control Society.
The training programme witnessed the participation of 100 teaching officials from 50 Higher Secondary Schools of District Anantnag, aimed at strengthening their capacity to address adolescent issues in educational institutions.
The Chief Education Officer, Anantnag, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and formally inaugurated the programme. In his address, he warmly welcomed the participating teaching officials and resource persons, and highlighted the crucial role of teachers in guiding adolescents through the challenges of this sensitive and transformative phase of life. He emphasized that schools must serve as safe spaces where students receive proper guidance on mental health, life skills, emotional well-being, and awareness about substance abuse and health-related concerns.
During the programme, expert sessions were delivered by resource persons from the School Education Department, DIET Anantnag, and the Department of Health Services through the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Anantnag. The sessions focused on various aspects of the Adolescence Education Programme, including life skills education, adolescent health awareness, mental well-being, and preventive strategies against risky behaviors.
On the occasion, District Education Planning Officer Anantnag, Assadullah Mir, delivered a comprehensive and insightful session highlighting the objectives and practical implementation of the programme in schools. He urged the participants to actively engage with students, promote open dialogue, and help create an enabling environment where adolescents feel supported and informed.
The trained teaching officials will now act as School Counsellors and resource persons in their respective institutions, disseminating awareness and providing guidance to students across the district under the framework of the Adolescence Education Programme.
