Ganderbal, Oct 09: Residents of Latiwaza area in Lar, Ganderbal are expressing their anger against the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department, accusing it of using substandard materials for the macadamisation of roads.

According to the locals who spoke to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the blacktopping done on the Latiwaza to Goripora road using inferior quality material is developing cracks within days, rendering the road in poor condition despite significant funds being spent.

“The department is spending lakhs of rupees on blacktopping this road, but the surface erodes even with pedestrian traffic,” the furious residents said.

They have accused the executing agency and the site engineer of using subpar materials for the roadwork.

The residents said they were initially pleased with the road repair and blacktopping efforts, but now feel let down by the substandard work.

They have called on the Executive Engineer of the R&B Department in Ganderbal, Tatheer Manzoor, to investigate the matter thoroughly and take stringent action against the officials responsible.

When contacted, Tatheer assured that he would verify the facts and take strict measures to address the issue—(KNO)
