SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 30: Under the leadership of Dr. Nassem Javaid Chowdhury, Director, SCERT-J&K, and under the guidance of Syed Shabir Ahmad, Joint Director, SCERT Divisional Office Kashmir, the Divisional Level National Science Seminar-2026 was successfully organised at the SCERT Divisional Office Kashmir, Bemina, Srinagar, on Tuesday.
The Seminar was organised by the Department of Education, Science and Mathematics (ESM), SCERT Divisional Office Kashmir, on the theme “Indian Energy Basket 2047: Prospects and Challenges.”
The event brought together school students from different districts of Kashmir Division, providing them an important platform to present their scientific understanding, ideas and perspectives on India’s future energy requirements and challenges.
The Seminar witnessed participation from students representing various districts, including Anantnag, Bandipora, Baramulla, Budgam, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Kupwara, Pulwama, Shopian and Srinagar. The participating students belonged to Classes VIII to X and presented their views and understanding of the theme before the Jury.
The presentations and interactions were conducted in accordance with the prescribed framework of the National Science Seminar, providing students an opportunity to demonstrate their scientific content, originality, presentation skills, fluency, written aptitude and ability to respond to questions.
Sareena Shafiq, a Class 9 student of DMPS Pampore, Pulwama, was declared as the winner of the Divisional Level National Science Seminar-2026 and was presented the winner’s trophy by the Joint Director, SCERT Divisional Office Kashmir.
The Joint Director, congratulated all the participating students, the winner, escort teachers, District Nodal Officers and the organising team for the successful conduct of the Seminar. He appreciated the efforts put in by all stakeholders in making the event a meaningful academic platform for students.
In his address, the Joint Director stressed the importance of organising similar academic and scientific events on a regular basis, observing that such initiatives can play a vital role in inculcating scientific temper and critical thinking among young and budding students. He emphasised the need to provide students with opportunities to explore ideas, engage in scientific thinking and develop confidence in presenting their understanding before an audience.
As part of the valedictory proceedings, the participating students were felicitated with participation certificates and medals, while the escort teachers and District Nodal Officers (DNOs) were also felicitated in recognition of their support and contribution to the successful conduct of the Seminar.
The felicitation ceremony provided an opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of students, teachers, DNOs and other stakeholders who contributed to the successful organisation and participation in the Divisional Level National Science Seminar.
The successful conduct of the Divisional Level National Science Seminar reflected the coordinated efforts of the SCERT Divisional Office Kashmir, ESM wing, participating schools, students, Jury members, District Nodal Officers and the organising team.
The Seminar provided a meaningful academic platform for young learners to engage with a nationally significant theme and to develop their scientific temperament, critical thinking, analytical abilities and communication skills.
The initiative reaffirmed the commitment of SCERT-J&K towards creating enriching academic opportunities for students and nurturing a culture of scientific inquiry and innovation among young learners.
