ANANTNAG, NOVEMBER 07: A sensitization and awareness programme aimed at educating the religious leaders of District Anantnag about the dangers of drug abuse and its harmful effects was organized today.

The event, held at the Government Degree College for Boys, Anantnag, was a collaborative effort between the Jammu and Kashmir AIDS Control Society (JKACS) and the Soutul Awliya Samaj Sudhar Committee, Anantnag.
The programme was graced by Javid Iqbal Matoo, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of South Kashmir Range J&K Police, as the Chief Guest.

Moulana Abdul Rasheed Dawoodi, a prominent religious leader, was the Guest of Honor, and Professor Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat, Principal of Government Degree College for Boys, Anantnag, participated as the Special Guest.

In his address, the DIG South Kashmir Range emphasized the critical role of community leaders, especially religious figures, in spreading awareness and driving efforts to combat drug addiction. He also highlighted the need for collective action from all sectors of society to address the drug menace.

The session featured insights on the physical, psychological, and societal impacts of drug abuse, as well as the importance of prevention and rehabilitation programs.

The speakers encouraged religious leaders to use their influence within local communities to educate the public, especially the youth, about the dangers of substance abuse.

Representatives from JKACS also attended the event. The programme aimed to equip religious leaders with the knowledge and tools to become key advocates in the fight against drug abuse.
