BUDGAM, SEPTEMBER 21: Marking the 5th day of the ongoing Sewa Parv, the District Administration Budgam organised a series of impactful activities across the district focusing on public health, women empowerment, and environmental sustainability.
A dedicated health camp was organised to provide free medical facilities to Safai Mitras and women.
The initiative, jointly conducted by the Health Department and Women & Child Development Department, aimed at ensuring preventive healthcare and timely medical interventions.
Participants underwent screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, and haemoglobin levels. Nutritional counselling sessions, awareness on family welfare, hygiene, and disease prevention were also conducted.
Safai Mitras were guided on occupational health, use of protective gear, and workplace safety measures. Individuals requiring further medical attention were referred to nearby health institutions for follow-up treatment.
In another event of the day, a plantation drive under the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” was carried out at Chadoora by the Municipal Committee Budgam. The drive inspired citizens to plant trees as a tribute to their mothers, blending environmental care with family values.
Hundreds of saplings were planted in the town, panchayats with active participation of local residents, students, volunteers, and staff. The plantation drive not only promoted the importance of greenery and combating climate change but also highlighted the emotional bond of dedicating trees to mothers.
Officers commended the community’s participation and reiterated fostering a sense of collective responsibility towards society, environment, and overall wellbeing.
The District Administration Budgam has planned more such health camps and awareness programmes for women and Safai Mitras in coming days.
Similarly, plantation drives under “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” will continue in other blocks to create a healthier and sustainable environment across the district.
