SFCAC Ramban approves 143 foster care cases for financial assistance

RAMBAN, MAY 12: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary today chaired a meeting of the Sponsorship and Foster Care Approval Committee.

The meeting focused on discussing the cases sanctioned under the sponsorship scheme to provide support to children in need of financial assistance. Attendees included District Social Welfare Officer, Rahul Gupta, Chairperson Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Nighat Ghani, Member CWC Shabir Ahmed Zohd, representatives from the State Adoption Agency (SAA), Protection Officer, Mission Vatsalya, and a member representative from NGO.

At the onset, District Child Protection Officer, Ramban, delivered a PowerPoint presentation and provided a brief overview of the Juvenile Justice Act and the criteria followed in selecting these cases. The DSWO informed the committee that the number of cases for the district has recently been increased from 58 to 201, with an additional 143 cases identified. The documents of these cases will undergo further scrutiny by the CWC before issuing final orders.

The Committee deliberated on individual cases and approved additional 143 cases. The Committee directed stakeholders to forward these cases to CWC for final scrutiny and issuing of orders. Once approved, the children will receive sponsorship as per approved norms.
