JAMMU, APRIL 20: State Election Commissioner, Jammu & Kashmir, Shantmanu, on Monday conducted an extensive tour of Miran Sahib block and R S Pura block of Jammu district to review the progress on special camps being organised for Revision of Panchayat Electoral Rolls–2026.
The Election Commissioner visited and inspected special camps at Panchayat Ghar Darsopur, Panchayat Ghar Badyal Brahmana (Lower), Panchayat Ghar Rathana, Panchayat Ghar Malikpur, Panchayat Ghar Kotli Mian Fateh and Government Middle School Nihalpur Simble (Upper).
During the inspection, he interacted with the Panchayat Secretaries, BLOs, PEBOs to assess the pace of the special revision camps set up for updation of Electoral Roll 2026. He reviewed the status of registration forms and progress on enrolment of newly eligible voters.
The Election Commissioner examined the submission of forms related to inclusion, deletion, correction and transposition in the Panchayat electoral rolls. He directed the officials to intensify outreach during the revision period, identify all eligible voters, facilitate registrations and ensure no deserving voter is left out.
Stressing the importance of the exercise, Shantmanu underlined the need for hundred percent inclusion of all eligible voters to strengthen grassroots level democracy and instructed officials to expedite the process of inclusion of new voters.
Secretary to the State Election Commissioner, Susheel Kumar; SDM, R S Pura, Anuradha Thakur; Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Mukhtar Ahmad; BDO, R S Pura, Sahil Angral and other senior officers accompanied the State Election Commissioner.He also interacted with Ex-PRI members and local residents .
