Srinagar, Apr 04 : Several candidates, who have registered themselves under PMKVY 4.0 scheme to get training in AI in python and Web development, feel duped as they were asked to attend classes in Punjab last week and now asked to return home as University is closing the batch this week.

Candidates, who went to Punjab for training, told the news agency that Lamrin Tech Skills University in Punjab is currently running Web development and AI in python courses under PMKVY 4.0 scheme.

“Around 53 students get themselves registered under PMKVY 4.0 under Batch no. 5, Batch id 2350072 (AI in python) and Batch id 2504502 (Web dev) through Lamri Tech Skill University but presently around 30 students have reached here, who have been asked to return back,” they said.

They said that senior students had already warned them, claiming that it is a scam as the campus doesn’t have IBM staff or any trainer under IBM.

“After registration, LTS University informed us to reach the campus on 28 March so that classes will start at earliest and after reaching the campus we had completed all the necessary formalities of University but before 3 days they suddenly informed us that they are ending the Batch 05 (Both Web & AI) because they want 20 or more students in a course,” they said.

“When we did check the guidelines of PMKVY 4.0 we found out that they can easily start a batch from 10 (minimum) to 30 (maximum) students, indicating that the batch size is not an issue,” they said, adding that they still want to discontinue the course due to unknown reasons.

“We all have reached here against all odds. But why are we being compelled to leave the campus within the period of 2 days. This is very humiliating and shocking for us,” they added.

“We feel mentally harassed at Lamrin tech Skills University,” they added.

They have sought attention of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in this regard so that University can start the course at earliest.

Meanwhile, University authorities when contacted said they have guidelines to start a batch only when they have over 70 percent attendance.

Firstly, all students told them that they will join classes but now most of them say they will be joining the classes after Eid but as per guidelines of the ministry, they can’t continue the fresh batch under these conditions, they said.
