DODA, MAY 29: Police Station Dessa successfully organized Thana Diwas at Gai Dessa, drawing participation from hundreds of local residents.

The event was graced by the Chief Guest Senior Superintendent of Police Sandeep Mehta and the Guest of Honour, Commanding Officer CO 10RR Doda. The guests were welcomed by the Incharge of the Model E-Governance Centre, GP Gai Dessa Hiteshwar Thakur. DSP OP Vishal Manhas and other police officials were also present at the event.

Hiteshwar Thakur, representing the civil society of Dessa, raised several key public issues during the interaction. These included the urgent need for a mobile tower in Gai Dessa, blacktopping of the Gai Bus Stand, and construction of a Defense Road from Gai to Chandraini Rudhra Ganga via Urad-Baggi Dessa — to connect 36 high-altitude meadows. He also highlighted the need for installing CCTV cameras at local Government Higher Secondary School and J&K Bank to curb thefts, along with the development of a sports ground at Sheeti Gai Dessa, for which a DPR has already been submitted to the DC Office Doda.

The event witnessed active participation from prominent local figures, including Jagdish Chander (Ex-Sarpanch Dessa), Mohd Sikander (Retd. Forest Guard), Ex-Sarpanch Manjmi Dharosh, as well as enthusiastic youth, senior citizens, Numberdars, and Chowkidars of Dessa.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Vishal Kumar, SHO PS Dessa. The event served as a valuable platform for direct dialogue between the public and the police, fostering trust and enabling authorities to take note of genuine community concerns.
