DDC emphasizes urgency for commissioning of Effluent Treatment Plant in District Hospital

REASI, JUNE 29: District Development Commissioner Reasi Vishesh Mahajan chaired a meeting of the District Level Monitoring Committee here today to review the implementation of the Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules 2016.

During the meeting, an Action Plan for the safe collection, segregation, handling, and disposal of bio-medical waste produced at the District Hospital Reasi was discussed. DDC Mahajan emphasized the urgency of preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the establishment of Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) at the hospital, with a deadline of ten days.

It was highlighted by the district officer of the Pollution Control Committee Reasi that the Annual Reports from the Health Department Reasi District are yet to be submitted. DDC Mahajan directed the Chief Medical Officer and Deputy CMO to expedite the submission of these reports.

Healthcare facilities without beds, which require only authorization under the Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules, were instructed to apply to the Pollution Control Committee Reasi within one month.

He also directed all Health Department to designate Nodal Officers for training from the district office of the Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Committee (JKPCC). The Nodal Officers will be trained as master trainers and will subsequently train personnel in their respective healthcare centers.

ADC Kulbushan Khajuria, Addl. SP Ifthikar Ahmed, CMO Ravinder Manhas, Dy. CMO, Medical Superintendent, Divisional Officer PCC and other concerned officers were present.
