JAMMU, NOVEMBER 07: State Taxes Department (STD) under the overall supervision of Additional Commissioner STD, Jammu, Namrita Dogra conducted late night enforcement drive at Akhnoor, Jammu.

During the drive, Deputy Commissioner State Taxes Enforcement Jammu, Sonu Pargal apprised the Additional Commissioner about various enforcement activities being carried out in the entire district.

He informed that penalties on marble/granite, scrap goods, furniture products, tobacco products and bottled Coconut Oil were realised during the current financial year for violations like movement of goods without e-way Bills, e-invoices, wrong declaration of tax rate, mismatch in quantity, use of fake GSTIN, etc.

He further informed Additional Commissioner that Rs 1.55 Crore penalty has been realized till October 2024 and more than 1.80 lakh EW bills have been verified with an increase of about 43 percent, due to which very high compliance on part of the taxpayers/transporters is being observed.

Additional Commissioner appreciated the efforts of enforcement team for realising highest amount of penalty for month of September 2024 and for breaking nexus of the scrap dealers, a challenge before the department. This became possible due to the able guidance of P.K. Bhat, Commissioner State Taxes, J&K.

She highlighted that it was became possible due to extensive usage of analytical tools and development of wide information network by team Enforcement (Central) Jammu.

Additional Commissioner stressed upon for more night surveillance to penalise the defaulters especially for sensitive commodities like Tobacco products, scrap goods, cement, TMT Bars, Electrical goods etc.

During the drive, the department also distributed appreciation certificates to the vehicle owners/dealers who were carrying all the requisite documents as mandated under the GST act 2017.
