DPEO Kishtwar briefs political representatives on key stages

KISHTWAR, NOVEMBER 14: District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) (Deputy Commissioner), Rajesh Kumar Shavan today held a meeting with political party representatives to discuss the Special Summary Revision of the Panchayat Electoral Roll in the District.

The DPEO outlined key stages of the revision process, which include adding new eligible voters, updating voter information, and removing ineligible entries. Political parties were encouraged to assist in verifying entries and to conduct outreach, informing citizens of their right to participate in the democratic process.

The Officer emphasized the importance of engaging local communities and ensuring that eligible residents, especially those newly eligible, are registered and able to exercise their voting rights. He also stressed upon the prompt addressing of any discrepancies or grievances that may arise.

The DC was informed that the publication of the draft roll was completed on Nov 11-2024, while the filing claims and Objections (additions, deletions, corrections, transposition) would continue till December 9, 2024.

He further informed that special Camps would be held from November 16, 2024, to December 1, 2024. Similarly, disposal of claims and objections will follow from December 23, 2024 , while the date for Final Publication of Panchayat Electoral Roll 2024 has been set as January 6, 2025.

The DPEO emphasized achieving 100% coverage of all eligible persons in the voter list to ensure an error-free voter list.

The meeting was attended by Dy. DEO/ACR Kishtwar Idrees Lone, the Election NT Angrez Singh Jasrotia, representatives from different political parties and other concerned.
