SHOPIAN, AUGUST 01: The Deputy Commissioner, Faz Lul Haseeb today launched the Swachhata Pakhwada campaign from Shopian marking the beginning of a fortnight dedicated to cleanliness and environmental sustainability across the district.
The campaign, commencing from August 1 to August 15, 2024, aims to reinforce the principles of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan while involving local communities in the environmental conservation and instilling a sense of responsibility.
The Campaign shall oversee the public mobilization to take part in multifarious activities including cleanliness drives at public places and tourist destinations, signature campaign, pledge taking, legacy waste disposal along roads, dedication of waste disposal infrastructure to local communities, initiation of new projects at local level besides a series of awareness programs and engagement initiatives at various levels.
At the district Level celebration, Swachhta Pledge was administered by Deputy Commissioner to all officers, staff and public. He also initiated plantation drive under ‘ Eik Paed Shahidon ke Naam’, signature campaign and dedicated hoppers for waste management.
DC emphasised on productive public participation for promotion of scientific waste management, adopting best sanitary practices, promoting hygiene and imbibing positive behavioural change towards environmental cleanliness.
Further, as part of Swachhata Pakhwada, the Swachhata Pledge was administered and cleanliness drives were also held in various Government Offices and Educational Institutions across the district.
The inaugural ceremony saw overwhelming public participation. ADC, Zakir Hussain Faaz, ACD, Manzoor Ahmad, DPO, Arshi Rasool, other sectoral/ district officers and officials were also presented.
