BANDIPORA, JULY 30: Social Welfare Department (SWD), Bandipora, today organized an awareness programme on Digital and Financial Literacy under the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVAY) for senior citizens at Hajin.
The programme, held under the guidance of District Social Welfare Officer, Bandipora, aimed to equip senior citizens with essential knowledge and skills to safely use digital financial services, promote financial inclusion, and create awareness about cyber fraud prevention, online banking, digital payment systems, and responsible financial management.
Resource persons from the Centre for Financial Literacy, Hajin delivered detailed presentations on various aspects of digital and financial literacy. They educated the participants about secure digital transactions, banking services, government-backed financial schemes, and precautionary measures to protect themselves from online financial fraud. The experts also held an interactive session and addressed the queries raised by the participants.
Speaking on the occasion, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Sumbal, highlighted the growing importance of digital and financial literacy in today’s technology-driven world. He urged senior citizens to adopt safe digital banking practices, remain vigilant against cyber scams, and make informed financial decisions. He also emphasized that awareness is the key to financial security and empowerment.
The participants actively participated in the programme and appreciated the efforts of the Social Welfare Department in organizing such a timely and informative awareness initiative. They expressed that the programme had enhanced their understanding of digital financial services and would help them confidently and safely access various banking facilities.
The Social Welfare Department reiterated its commitment to organizing more such awareness programmes under AVAY to promote the welfare, dignity, financial inclusion, and digital empowerment of senior citizens across the district.
