Three drug peddlers arrested in Anantnag: Police

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Anantnag on Friday claimed to have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

“A Police party from Police Station Anantnag arrested three drug peddlers identified as Zafar Abbas Sheikh son of Mohammad Saleem resident of Sheikh Mohalla Janglatmandi, Yasir Nazir Kadoo son of Nazir Ah Kadoo resident of Qazi Mohalla A/P Dantar, Zubair Ahmad Turray son of Ghulam Nabi Turray resident of Cheeni Chowk at Achabal Adda Anantnag along with 1.2 Kgs of Charas & 06 Grams of Heroin. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody,” a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

Accordingly, police said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been initiated.

Meanwhile, police urged people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. “Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said—(KNO)
