KUPWARA,OCTOBER 11: Tehsil Legal service Committee (TLSC) Handwara, today organised an awareness programme at AIMS School Handwara to commemorate International Girl Child Day.
The programme aimed to highlight the importance of educating and empowering the girl child, ensuring gender equality, and spreading awareness regarding the legal rights and protections avilable to girls and women under the law.
The programme featured insightful takes by resource persons from TLSC Handwara, who spoke on the protection of children from sexual offence (POCSO)Act, 2012, highlighting mechanisms for reporting and preventing sexual offences against minors, prohibition of child marriage Act, 2006, stressing the legal consequences of child marriage and the importance of the timely intervention by authorities and communities.
The speakers collectively underlined the role of education, awareness and law enforcement in protecting the rights of the girl child.
Students of AIMS school participated enthusiastically through speeches. The school management appreciated the efforts of TLSC Handwara for oraganising such awareness events that inspire young minds and foster a culture of respect and equality.
As a mark encouragement, certificates of appreciation were distributed among the students and teachers who spoke on theme of empowerment of the girl child and actively contributed to the success of the event.
