ANANTNAG, MARCH 10: Under the chairmanship of the Assistant Commissioner Revenue(ACR), Tariq Ahmad Malik Anantnag, a training programme for Resource Persons under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was today held at Dak Bungalow Khanabal.

The programme was organized as part of the district administration’s continued efforts to create awareness and strengthen preventive education and counselling support against drug abuse among students and youth.

The training was attended by Assistant Professors from GDCs besides Lecturers and teachers of the School Education Department who have been nominated as counsellors.

The objective of the training programme was to build the capacity of participants to act as counsellors, mentors and nodal resource persons in their respective schools and colleges for addressing issues related to substance abuse prevention, early identification and guidance of students.

During the session, experts and officials highlighted the growing challenge of drug abuse and emphasized the need for timely counselling, awareness initiatives and coordinated efforts to curb the menace. The participants were sensitized about various preventive measures, counselling techniques and strategies to guide students towards a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.

Speaking on the occasion, the ACR stressed the importance of educational institutions in creating awareness and early intervention to prevent substance abuse. He urged the nominated counsellors to actively engage with students and spread awareness regarding the harmful effects of drugs.

The programme concluded with a pledge by participants to contribute actively towards making district and society drug-free to realise the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
