Unabated surge, J&K reports 655 new Covid cases

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Saturday reported three deaths and 655 fresh positive cases of COVID-19, thus taking the number of total active cases in the Union Territory to 2,982.
The positivity rate in J&K has increased from 0.35 percent to 1.11 percent in just last five days.
With three more deaths, the death toll in J&K has reached to 4,537 and 655 fresh positive cases reported on Saturday have pushed the tally of positive cases to 343,965.
Of the exact number of 343,965 cases, 216,238 are from Kashmir division and 127,727 from Jammu division.
Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 655 new cases, 263 belong to Kashmir division while as 392 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 216,238 including 212,572 recoveries and 2,334 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 127,727 including 123,874 recoveries and 2,203 deaths.
The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 2,982 including 1,332 from Kashmir division and 1,650 from Jammu division.
With 162 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 336,446 which is 97.81 percent of the total cases.
“Cases tested positive in J&K include 133 from Srinagar, 41 from Baramulla, 46 from Budgam, 07 from Pulwama, 08 from Kupwara, 09 from Anantnag, 11 from Bandipora, 04 from Ganderbal, 04 each from Kulgam and 00 Shopian in Kashmir division while as 392 from Jammu division include 263 from Jammu division, 17 from Udhampur, 14 from Rajouri, 10 from Doda, 26 from Kathua, 12 from Samba, 03 from Kishtwar, 31 from Poonch, 01 from Ramban and 15 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.
Meanwhile, authorities said that no fresh cases of Mucormycosis popularly known as black fungus was reported in the UT and the tally stands at 51.
As per officials figures, 79,398 positive cases including 885 deaths and 77,815 recoveries are from Srinagar, 26,160 including 291 deaths and 25,662 recoveries are from Baramulla, 24,639 including 24,299 recoveries and 218 deaths are from Budgam, 15,777 including 15,524 recoveries and 195 deaths are from Pulwama, 15,034 including 167 deaths and 14,799 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,763 including 16,526 recoveries and 208 deaths are from Anantnag, 10,208 cases including 10,063 and 111 deaths are from Bandipora, 11,054 including 10,895 recoveries and 82 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,584 including 11,430 recoveries and 118 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,621 including 5,559 recoveries and 59 deaths are from Shopian.
In Jammu division, 55,042 including 52,914 recoveries and 1,160 deaths are from Jammu district, 11,556 including 11,341 recoveries and 139 deaths are from Udhampur, 11,431 including 11,140 recoveries and 240 deaths are from Rajouri, 8,109 including 7,900 recoveries and 137 deaths are from Doda, 9,471 including 9,239 recoveries and 153 deaths are from Kathua, 7,213 including 7,060 recoveries and 120 deaths are from Samba, 4,870 including 4,809 recoveries and 44 deaths are from Kishtwar, 6,682 including 6,507 recoveries and 100 deaths are from Poonch, 6,088 including 6,010 recoveries and 67 deaths are from Ramban and 7,265 including 6,954 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Reasi.
As per the daily information bulletin 5,387,978 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 8,215 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 2,982 persons are in isolation.
According to the bulletin, 4,939,739 persons have completed the surveillance period and 432,505 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 19,789,128 samples are available. Out of 19,789,128 the number of samples tested negative stands at 19,445,163 while as 343,965 have tested positive, among them 2,982 persons are active, 336,446 persons have recovered and 4,537 persons have died—(KNO)
