These businesses, which form the backbone of the local economy, have been negatively impacted by a shortage of finance while also being hindered by a lack of markets, infrastructure, and government backing. The Union Government must set aside money for MSMEs in J&K in the budget and provide incentives so that they can access credit and other financing options, allowing them to experience a recovery in their enterprises. In addition to financing support, businesses need incentives to adopt new technologies and develop in order to stay alive and competitive at the same time.
The government must not stop there; instead, it must concentrate on bolstering local infrastructure to make it simpler for businesses to function, which might include greater internet access, better connectivity, and easier access to basic supplies. The government is expected to look into tax exemptions, which are another possibility on the table. To encourage MSMEs to grow and create new jobs, the government must include tax exemptions and other incentives for them in the 2023 budget. The vast list of “doables” includes tax breaks and exemptions, lower compliance expenses, and additional incentives like less paperwork or quicker processing times.
The point is that MSMEs in J&K must be a major priority of the Union Budget for 2023, and government action is urgently needed to ensure that these companies recover and grow. If this is done, it would not only boost the economy of the area but also the entire country. The following are some recommendations that the government may consider, which include setting up a Technology Development and Transfer Center (TDTC) to facilitate technology transfer and assist MSMEs in modernising their production processes is more important than setting up a Credit Guarantee Scheme (CGS) to offer collateral-free loans to MSMEs with a credit guarantee cover. There is optimism that the government will successfully respond to the needs and desires of UT, ensuring that MSMEs experience a rebirth and, as a result, the UT economy. The hopes are high; let us wait and watch what the government has to offer the people of J&K.
