Wildlife Department organises trekking event at Sudhmahadev Conservation Reserve

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 28: The Department of Wildlife Protection, Jammu Division organised a trekking event along the eco-trek route from Krali to Gouri Kund in the Sudhmahadev Conservation Reserve, here the other day.

The event covered a distance of six kilometers and witnessed the participation of 60 students and faculty members from Government Degree College Chenani.

The trek was flagged off by Regional Wildlife Warden Jammu, Jyotsana and Wildlife Warden Jammu, Vijay Kumar, in the presence of Dr. Rajan Bharti, Assistant Professor and Head of the Geography Department at GDC Chenani.

Before the commencement of the trek, Wildlife Warden Jammu, Vijay Kumar, welcomed the participants and provided an overview of the Sudhmahadev Conservation Reserve. He highlighted the reserve’s ecological significance, including its diverse flora and fauna.

During the trek, students were informed about various management practices employed in wildlife areas. This included discussions on habitat conservation and soil erosion prevention through methods such as constructing check dams.

Following the event, students and faculty members expressed their appreciation to the Department of Wildlife Protection for organizing the trek, which provided valuable insights into conservation efforts and the ecological importance of the reserve.
