At his Jammu rally, where everyone was eyeing that he will seize the moment by presenting a roadmap that would be unheard of in the history of J&K, he too took the most trodden path, which the other political parties have already opted for: even the same is going to occupy the major portion of their election manifesto while as others exist because of that trodden path which has emerged out of the abrogation of Article 370, throwing at them the issues such as the restoration of the statehood, right to land and employment to native domiciles. What is new and what makes Azad’s party different, that’s literally nothing except for his baggage.
After that much-awaited rally and after Azad showed what he has got, the leaders who quit the Congress in support of him must now be in a fix, especially those from the Chenab Valley because like any other common person, they too were expecting something new. While other political parties changed the course with the emergence of new issues in J&K and put the older ones on the back burner, the Azad’s party—which has not even been named yet—has made a failed attempt to en-cash on the new issues which are as new as the Azad’s political party. Not going to yield him much.
There sure was a need for being different and that’s what Azad has failed in. The same shows the lack of vision, falling prey to the political black-hole that has been created in J&K which has taken away the ability of the political leaders—howsoever tall—to think and think out of the box; think with a futuristic bent of mind: which the leaders of J&K, including the Azad whose political career is more than 50 years, have failed to exhibit so far. Others had already fallen prey to the political black-hole, however, it was expected that Azad would maneuver wisely, avoiding being sucked in and present a vision before the people of J&K. These issues which have been picked up are short-lived, as Article 370 was—which in the end had to be abrogated despite huge politics played around it—instead people, as well as the politics of J&K, need something for the long run, something in which Azad has failed miserably. Now that he has started his independent journey; let’s wait and watch how far it goes. We wish him and his yet-to-be-named political party good luck!
