SHOPIAN, JUNE 07: The Department of Drugs and Food Control Organisation in collaboration with the School Education Department today organised a function to commemorate ‘World Food Safety Day’ at Gujjar & Bakerwal Hostel, Shirmal Shopian.
The theme for this year’s World Food Safety Day-2024 is ‘Food Safety: Prepare for the unexpected.’ The theme highlights the importance of being prepared for Food Safety incidence, which can range from minor events to measure international crises.
On the occasion, speakers highlighted the importance of Food Safety Day. They stressed on taking a balanced diet and its critical role in maintaining good health.
Speakers said that ensuring food safety is essential for public health, economic prosperity and agriculture besides access to markets, tourism and sustainable development.
Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, Shopian, Gh Quadir Azhar; Food Safety Officer, Headmaster, HS Sindu Shirmal and a large number of students of the school participated in the function.
Later, a pledge was taken by the participating dignitaries and the students.
