Jammu: The 24th J&K Taekwondo Championships, 2021-22 concluded here in Jammu here in the Indoor Sports Complex, Bhagwati Nagar.
Nuzhat Gul, Secretary J&K Sports Council presided over the closing ceremony as the chief guest in presence of Secretary Sports Council Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, Chief Accounts Officer J&K Sports Council and Ashok Singh, Divisional Sports Officer besides Managers and other officials of Sports Council.
Ajay Salan and Kuldeep Handoo, Dronacharya Awardee and National Chief Coach also attended the function as special invitees.
Secretary, J&K Sports Council, while speaking on the occasion, assured full support to the J&K Taekwondo Association from the government and stressed on the need to extend the base of martial arts to every nook and corner of J&K. “We are doing well in the national competitions, let us all pledge to put in extra effort to replicate the same performance in the international arenas” she said.
Earlier, Vice President J&K Taekwondo Association, Dr. S. M Bali, while welcoming the chief guest and the participants, praised all those associated with the success of the event.The championship stretched over a period of 3 days and all the participants commended the role of J&K Sports Council for creating the healthy sports environment and the support it lent to JKTA in organizing the event.
The event which featured players across different sections of the society, including Orphan, Para and Migrant athletes was held under the aegis of World Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation Program.
Master Atul Pangotra, International Coach and Referee supervised the event as the Technical Director. The unique feature of this year’s event was that everything that transpired in arena was displayed on the giant electronic “Sensor Scoring System”.
The colorful closing ceremony also featured some amazing live performances by the young athletes which left the audience spellbound. Many athletes and coaches from other sports disciplines along with fans and families were also part of the event.
