3 Day Craft demonstration cum awareness workshop commences at GDC Ramgarh

SAMBA, OCTOBER 24: Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Government Degree College Ramgarh, in collaboration with the Handicrafts Service Centre Jammu Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles- Government of India inaugurated a three-day workshop on “Craft Demonstration cum Awareness Programme” here today on the College Campus.

During the three days, participants will get the opportunity to explore four unique crafts: Decoupage/Clay Art, Pottery Craft, Basholi Painting, and Bamboo Craft.

The sessions are being led by skilled resource persons, including Priya Gupta for Decoupage / Clay Art, Ankit for Pottery, Antima Manhas for Basholi Painting, and Rashpaul for Bamboo Craft. The workshop received an enthusiastic response from the students. Participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to learn new skills and techniques.

The workshop aims to empower participants with hands-on training in popular indigenous crafts including decoupage, pottery craft, Basholi painting, and bamboo craft, enhancing their creativity and entrepreneurial skills.

The event was organized under the guidance and supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College, with the support of IQAC convener Dr. Aditi Khajuria and faculty members of the college.

The workshop was also attended by Assistant Director Handicrafts Service Centre, Jammu, Ambika Sambyal, who provided insights into the significance of handicrafts in our cultural heritage. The workshop began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, officiated by the Principal of the college, chief guest Ambika Sambyal along with faculty members of the college.

Earlier, Disha from the Handicraft Service Centre introduced the theme of the workshop, focusing on the significance of traditional handicrafts and their preservation.
