3rd National Lok Adalat-2025 held in Jammu

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 13: In Compliance to the directions of Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority, 3rd National Lok Adalat-2025 was held today at District Court Complex Janipur Jammu under the Chairmanship of Y. P. Bourney, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Jammu).

The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Y. P. Bourney. On the occasion, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Jammu emphasized the importance of National Lok Adalat in amicable settlement of long pending disputes and role of Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods which is a vital tool in the Justice delivery system for speedy and one time settlement of disputes. The general masses can take the benefit of Lok Adalats as the award passed by the Lok Adalat Benches attains finality.

On the occasion, the Chairman DLSA Jammu distributed five MACT Cheques among the claimants.
Different kinds of cases were taken up wherein different cases were settled in a very amicable and conducive manner.

A total of 29 benches were constituted in different Courts to deal with the matters of Civil nature, Bank Recovery, Criminal Compoundable, MACT, Matrimonial, NI Act u/s 138, Revenue Cases, BSNL Cases, Electricity Bills, Other Civil Cases and Others Traffic Challans cases were taken up today in the District Court Complex, Janipur Jammu.

A total number of 276581 cases pertaining to different nature were taken up, out of which 217525 cases were settled. The total Amount recovered is Rs. 16,14,38,844.

Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, Jammu also settled several Cases. In Pinki Bhan vs Predaman Krishan Koul, an amount of Rs. 79,00,000/- was awarded in favour of the claimant after settlement. The amount was paid as compensation by the respondent.

Similarly, in Tulsi Dass Vs United India Insurance Co case an amount of Rs. 28,47,680/- was awarded in favour of the claimant after settlement. The amount was paid as compensation by the respondent.

Likewise, three cases were settled by the Ld. Addl. Sessions Judge Anti Corruption Jammu (Addl. MACT Jammu):-
In Pinky Devi & Ors vs Tata AIG Ins. Co. Ltd case an amount of Rs. 40,50,000/- was awarded in favour of the claimant after settlement. The amount was paid as compensation by the respondent.

In Sharina Begum vs TATA case an amount of Rs. 16,50,000/- was awarded in favour of the claimant after settlement. The amount was paid as compensation by the respondent.

For the Nirmala Khera vs Ashish case, an amount of Rs. 66,00,000/- was awarded in favour of the claimant after settlement. The amount was paid as compensation by the respondent.
