SAMBA, AUGUST 11: District Development Commissioner Samba Ayushi Sudan convened a comprehensive review meeting to assess the status and progress of projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission in the district. The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Ms Champa Devi and Chief Planning Officer Samba, along with the engineering and administrative functionaries concerned.

During the deliberations, it was apprised that out of 130 approved water supply schemes, 86 schemes have been successfully completed, while 18 schemes are in an advanced stage of execution.

Providing a detailed account of major infrastructure achievements under the Mission, the Executive Engineer Samba informed that a one sanctioned dug well completed, 74 out of 80 tube wells stand completed, 21 bore wells have been completed, 10 out of 11 Rapid Sand Filtration Plants are operational and 50 out of 55 OHTs have been completed.

Taking cognisance of the progress, the DDC Samba directed the Executive Engineer, along with AEEs, AEs and JEs to resolve all site-specific issues in close coordination with the respective Sub-Divisional Magistrates. She further instructed SDMs to personally monitor the pace, quality and adherence to technical standards of JJM works within their jurisdictions.

Underscoring the importance of timely delivery, the DDC emphasised that the 18 schemes currently nearing completion must be finalised within one month. She observed that this would markedly enhance household coverage with Functional Household Tap Connections, ensuring safe and adequate drinking water supply to residents and facilitating the Har Ghar Jal certification of villages in Samba district.

The meeting concluded with a clarion call for synergised action between executing agencies, field staff and monitoring authorities to achieve the set targets within the stipulated timelines, thereby advancing the mission’s vision of universal access to potable water.
