SRINAGAR, MAY 06: Mohammad Younis Malik on Wednesday assumed charge as the Director of the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI).

The charge was handed over in a brief yet dignified ceremony held at the institute’s Sempora campus, marking the transition of leadership at the premier entrepreneurship promotion organization of the Union Territory.

On the occasion, a warm and heartfelt farewell was accorded to the outgoing Director, Khalid Jahangir who had been holding the additional charge of Director JKEDI alongside his responsibilities as Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department.

Senior officers and officials of JKEDI, along with staff members, were present during the ceremony and acknowledged the contributions made by Khalid Jahangir during his tenure.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Younis Malik expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead JKEDI and reiterated his commitment to further advancing the institute’s mission. He emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship, capacity building, and effective implementation of government policies to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for the youth of the Union Territory.

“The employees of the institute are its permanent stakeholders, and our collective strength lies in working together with unity and purpose. We must function as a cohesive team, moving in tandem to achieve our objectives and take JKEDI to newer heights,” he said.

Highlighting the challenges ahead, he added, “Unemployment remains one of the biggest challenges before us today. It is imperative that the goals and initiatives of the JKEDI are closely aligned to address this concern and contribute meaningfully to the betterment of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.”

He further called for a results-oriented approach, stating, “We must all strive to work harder and to the fullest of our capabilities to meet the expectations of our youth and create impactful opportunities through entrepreneurship and innovation.”

He also underscored the significance of the J&K Startup Policy 2024–27, noting that JKEDI will continue to play a pivotal role in nurturing startups, facilitating access to finance, and building a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem in alignment with the policy objectives.

In his farewell remarks, Khalid Jahangir extended his best wishes to the incoming Director and expressed confidence that JKEDI would continue to scale new heights under his leadership. He appreciated the dedication and professionalism of the institute’s team and encouraged them to maintain their focus on impactful outcomes and service delivery.
