BHADERWAH, MAY 08: In a major step towards improving the drinking water infrastructure in Bhaderwah town, the Qilla Bhaderwah reservoir has been restored under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sunil Kumar Bhutyal.
The restoration work has been as per the Detailed Project Report (DPR) framed for the improvement of the overall water supply scheme of Bhaderwah Town Zone-2 and Zone-3. The total project cost amounts to ₹132.10 lakh, out of which ₹96.97 lakh has been allotted under the UT Capex budget.
The project components included the demolition of the old reservoir structure and construction of a new 50,000-gallon Ground Service Reservoir (GSR) at the site.
According to officials, the work on the reservoir commenced on December 15, 2025 and was completed on April 28, 2026. The remaining works are still in progress, with nearly 75 percent of the overall project completed so far.
The restoration and upgradation of the reservoir is expected to significantly improve water storage capacity and ensure better water supply facilities for residents of Bhaderwah town, particularly in Zone-2 and Zone-3 areas.
