REASI, MAY 15: District Development Commissioner Reasi Kumar Abhishek chaired a meeting with officials of the Border Roads Organisation today to review the progress of the strategically important Budhal-Mahore-Gool (BMG) Road project being executed by 110 Road Construction Company.
The BRO officials apprised the DDC about the ongoing works, package-wise progress, critical bottlenecks and future execution plans of the road project connecting Budhal, Mahore and Gool.
It was informed that the Budhal-Mahore-Gool Road project spans approximately 112 kilometres and has been divided into four packages for execution. The project is being undertaken under the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode to enhance road connectivity in the remote and hilly areas of Rajouri, Reasi and Ramban districts.
The BRO authorities also briefed the meeting regarding the proposed Lapri Tunnel between Budhal and Gool under Package-IV. It was informed that consultancy for preparation of the Detailed Project Report has been awarded and further technical formalities are under process.
Several issues affecting the pace of work, including pending structure compensation cases, land acquisition matters, demolition of structures and approval of reassessed compensation cases, were also reviewed.
The DDC directed the concerned agencies to identify critical stretches and prioritise work to ensure timely completion of the project. He also stressed the need for conducting a proper road safety audit and directed the officers to install crash barriers and signboards at vulnerable and accident-prone locations wherever required for the safety of commuters.
He further emphasised close coordination among all concerned departments to resolve pending issues in a time-bound manner and directed the officers to expedite compensation disbursement cases, land-related matters and other procedural clearances for smooth execution of the project.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of protection works, bridges, slope stabilisation, resurfacing and other allied works being carried out along the alignment.
Later, the DDC also reviewed the progress of development projects being executed at Shri Shiv Khori Shrine. He assessed the progress of the helipad project and the approach road being constructed to improve connectivity.
He directed the concerned officers to ensure timely completion of the works while maintaining quality standards.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Nitin Verma, Major Niranjan OC 100 GRIF and senior BRO officers were present during the meeting.
