KATHUA, MAY 18: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today visited the designated lodgement centres identified for use during Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2026 to review the preparedness, arrangements and essential amenities being put in place for any contingencies during the forthcoming pilgrimage.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the facilities available at the lodgement centres and assessed the arrangements related to accommodation, sanitation, drinking water, power, medical aid, security and other basic amenities required for the smooth management of pilgrims in case of emergency situations or temporary halts.

He directed the concerned officers to ensure that all designated centres remain fully prepared and equipped to handle any exigency during the yatra period. Stressing the importance of coordinated planning and prompt response mechanisms, the DC said that the administration is committed to ensuring the safety, convenience and well-being of pilgrims and all necessary arrangements must be kept in readiness well in advance.

The DC also reviewed the availability of bedding facilities, cleanliness standards, functioning of washrooms, uninterrupted power and water supply, healthcare support and deployment of sufficient manpower at these centres. He instructed officers to maintain strict hygiene standards and ensure round-the-clock monitoring of all facilities.

The visiting team also interacted with the concerned officials on ground and reviewed the preparedness plans for emergency response and crowd management.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by SSP Mohita Sharma, ADC Vishavjeet Singh, IAS Probationer Nidhi and other concerned officials during the inspection.
