KATHUA, JULY 01: The 25th meeting of the District Road Safety Committee was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma at the DC Office Complex, to review the road safety scenario in the district and assess progress on decisions taken in previous meetings.
The meeting held deliberations on strengthening road safety through improved infrastructure, effective enforcement and sustained public awareness initiatives. The DC reviewed action taken on earlier directions and stressed upon the departments concerned to ensure timely implementation of interventions aimed at reducing road accidents and enhancing safety for commuters.
Detailed discussions were held on various road safety concerns, including identification of a suitable location for an Auto Stand near the Associated Hospital, GMC Kathua, and measures to ease traffic congestion at Mukherjee Chowk.
Reviewing the status of accident-prone stretches and ongoing safety measures, the Deputy Commissioner directed the agencies concerned to work in close coordination and ensure strict compliance with road safety norms. He called for regular monitoring of vulnerable locations, expeditious execution of road safety works, data-based planning for effective outcomes and strengthened inter-departmental convergence and public participation to create safer road conditions across the district.
Among those present were DC State Taxes Joginder Singh Jasrotia, ADC Mahima Madan, RTO Surinder Paul Sharma, Chief Medical Officer, Executive Engineer PWD, DEPO, CEO MC Kathua, Executive Officer MC Parole, conveners and members of Road Safety Committees of colleges, besides representatives from GREF, BRO, NHAI and other departments concerned.
