JAMMU, JLY 17: Under the visionary leadership of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Reasi (also Pr. District and Sessions Judge Reasi) Khalil Choudhary and the guidance of Secretary, DLSA Reasi Pooja Gupta, an awareness programme was organized today at Legal Aid Clinic Kunderdhan by the Para Legal Volunteer (PLVs) of TLSC Mahore.
The programme focused on the themes “Save Environment” and “Social Welfare Schemes.” During the awareness session, the participants were sensitized about the importance of environmental conservation, including tree plantation, protection of natural resources, proper waste management, maintaining cleanliness and adopting eco-friendly practices to ensure a healthy and sustainable environment for future generations.
The PLV also disseminated information regarding various social welfare schemes implemented by the Central and UT Governments for the benefit of economically weaker sections, women, children, senior citizens, persons with disabilities and other deserving beneficiaries. The participants were encouraged to avail themselves of these welfare schemes and seek assistance from Legal Services Institutions whenever required.
Another programme, a door-to-door awareness on Environment Protection and Social Welfare Scheme was conducted by the Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC), Mahore. During the awareness drive, the PLVs visited households and interacted directly with locals to spread awareness about the importance of protecting the environment through Tree Plantation, proper Waste management, Water conservation and maintaining cleanliness in villages. The villagers were encouraged to actively participate in environmental conservation initiatives and adopt eco-friendly practices for sustainable development. The PLVs also disseminated information regarding various Central and UT Government Social Welfare Schemes, highlighting the benefits available for women, senior citizens, children, persons with disabilities, economically weaker sections, and other eligible beneficiaries. The participants were informed about the procedure for availing these welfare schemes and were encouraged to seek assistance whenever required.
An awareness programme was organized today at Village Taryole, Panchayat Laiter Maghai to observe International Criminal Justice Day. The programme highlighted that International Criminal Justice Day, observed every year on July 17 marks the adoption of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in 1998. Participants were informed that the day promotes international criminal justice and reaffirms the global commitment to ensuring justice and accountability for victim of genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and other serious international crimes. During the awareness session, the participants were sensitized about the importance of the rule of law, protection of human rights, and the role of legal institutions in ensuring justice for victims. .
Another awareness programme on the theme “Mediation Towards a Litigation-Free Rural India” was organized at Villages Chillad and Hunder by the Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of TLSC Mahore. During the programme, the PLVs highlighted the importance of mediation as a simple, speedy, cost-effective and amicable mechanism for resolving disputes without prolonged court litigation. They explained that mediation promotes harmony, strengthens community relationships and helps reduce the burden on courts, thereby contributing towards the vision of a Litigation-Free Rural India. The participants were informed that mediation enables parties to arrive at mutually acceptable solutions with the assistance of a neutral mediator while preserving cordial relations. The PLVs also made the villagers aware of the free legal aid services available through DLSA and TLSC and encouraged them to approach the Legal Services Institutions for assistance in resolving disputes through mediation whenever possible.
Also a programme on Solid Waste management was organised today by the Para Legal Volunteers of TLSC Katra at Panchayat Akhli. During the programme, the PLVs sensitized the participants about the importance of proper solid waste management, segregation of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste, reduction of plastic usage, recycling, composting, and maintaining cleanliness in villages and public places. The participants were informed that effective waste management plays a crucial role in protecting the environment, preventing the spread of diseases, and promoting sustainable development.
Awareness programme on senior citizens was organised by the Para Legal Volunteers of DLSA, Reasi at Day Care Centre, Reasi. The awareness programme was conducted by PLVs, who elaborated on the significance of Lok Adalat as an effective mechanism for providing speedy, affordable, and amicable settlement of disputes. The participants were informed about the numerous advantages of resolving cases through Lok Adalat, including its cost-effective, expeditious, and hassle-free process, which helps reduce the burden of prolonged litigation.
During the programme, PLV Ashok Kumar also highlighted the various legal services and assistance available to ex-servicemen under the Legal Services Authorities Act. He encouraged the participants to avail themselves of free legal aid and other legal services whenever required and emphasized that DLSA, Reasi remains committed to ensuring easy access to justice for all sections of society, including ex-servicemen.
