KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 29: Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Mahima Madan, today chaired a meeting of the District-Level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) Committee to review enforcement, preventive and rehabilitation measures to curb drug abuse and trafficking in the district.
The ADC reviewed the progress on decisions of previous NCORD meetings, awareness and sensitisation programmes, enforcement action, identification of vulnerable areas and inter-departmental coordination. Various departments and Sub-Divisions briefed the meeting on awareness campaigns, outreach activities, camps and other interventions undertaken to prevent substance abuse.
Emphasising preventive interventions, the ADC directed the Health, Education and other concerned departments to intensify awareness programmes, particularly among students and youth, through schools, colleges, Panchayats and community platforms.
She directed enforcement agencies to strengthen field surveillance, regularly check vulnerable locations, monitor identified hotspots and take timely action against those involved in illicit narcotics activities.
The ADC also stressed the need to strengthen counselling, rehabilitation and de-addiction support, with timely identification, referral and follow-up of vulnerable persons.
She underscored that sustained enforcement, preventive awareness, community participation and rehabilitation support are essential to effectively combat the drug menace and advance the district’s efforts towards a drug-free environment.
The meeting was attended by DC Sales Tax Joginder Singh Jasrotia, ASP Sunil Kesar, RTO Surinder Paul Sharma, CEO Kewal Kishore, CMO Dr Vijay Raina and other officers and officials of concerned departments.
