Stresses visitor safety, facilitation; langar organisers told to follow food safety norms

ADC Jammu reviews arrangements for Navratras, Ram Navami, Dussehra

JAMMU, OCTOBER 05: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jammu Ansuya Jamwal today chaired a meeting to review preparedness for the Navratras, Ram Navami and Dussehra festivals in the district.

Arrangements at major shrines, including Bahu Fort Temple, Kol Kandoli Temple and Laxmi Narayan Temple were reviewed in detail. The arrangements planned for the Dussehra venues at Parade Ground, Sainik Colony, Channi Himmat and Gandhi Nagar were also reviewed.

The ADC directed Police and Traffic Police to ensure fool proof security, barricading, crowd management, traffic diversions and designated parking. She asked for Ram Leela permissions to be processed expeditiously, subject to safety norms.

The JMC was directed to ensure thorough sanitation and regular garbage lifting, deploy mobile toilets and carry out fogging against mosquitoes. Functional streetlights and adequate night illumination at temples, Ram Leela venues and Dussehra grounds were stressed. PDD and Jal Shakti were directed to ensure regular power and water supply.

The Health Department was asked to deploy medical teams, ambulances and first-aid facilities at key locations.
Underlining the role of religious bodies, the ADC called for their close cooperation with the district administration in ensuring safety, convenience and facilitation of visitors. She stressed that organisers of langars must strictly adhere to food safety protocols.

The meeting was attended by SDM South Manu Hansa; SDM North Dr Deepak Kumar; Assistant Commissioner General Sania Haq Khan; Addl SP Traffic City Arvinder Singh; SDPO City North Vikram Bhau; officers of various departments besides representatives of religious bodies.
