DGP sanctions relief for families of policemen

Srinagar: The Director General of Police (DGP) J&K Dilbag Singh has sanctioned a Special Welfare Relief (SWR) worth Rs 1.52 crores for NoKs of martyred and deceased Police personnel.

The relief has been sanctioned with an aim to provide financial succor to the families of the Police personnel who have attained martyrdom or have passed away while in service.

An amount of Rs 22 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of dependents or legal heirs of Martyr SgCt  Safiullah Qadri who attained martyrdom in a terrorist attack.

“Similarly Rs 22 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents of deceased ASI Mohammad Hussain, HC Javid Ahmad SgCts Amina Akhtar, Darbesh Kumar, Follower Ghulam Qadir,” a police handout reads.

An amount of Rs 20 lakh as SWR has been sanctioned in favour of dependents of SgCt Mohammad Roshan and Follower Pawan Kumar.

“The deceased personnel passed away due to illness/ natural death while in service,” it reads.

Also, an amount of Rs 1 lakh each has already been paid to NoKs of these deceased police personnel for performing last rites through their concerned units.

“The Special Welfare Relief is sanctioned out of Contributory Police Welfare Funds. Police Headquarters is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families,” the handout reads, adding that there are schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOs as well.

“There are schemes for the NoKs of martyrs, their wards and also for the retired Police personnel and their spouses,” the police handout reads.
